Today in 2018's political priorities: President Donald Trump took time out of his day to tweet to late night host Jimmy Fallon and tell him to "be a man." No, we cannot make this stuff up.
Fallon recently expressed some regret for the way he conducted his interview with Trump on The Tonight Show in 2016. If given the chance to re-do it, he wouldn't have given him such soft questions.
"I'm sorry. I don't want to make anyone angry — I never do and I never will. It's all in the fun of the show. I made a mistake. I'm sorry if I made anyone mad. And, looking back, I would do it differently," he told The Hollywood Reporter.
The generally apolitical, happy-go-lucky host explained that his infamous hair-jostling interview with the then-candidate was widely criticized by fans and colleagues alike because it humanized and normalized Trump just two months before the election that left us, well, in this mess.
Anyways, Trump apparently caught wind of the interview and it forced his small tweeting hands to emit a salty dig at the Tonight Show host. How else would a reality TV star respond to criticism?
Now a tweet like this — pleading for Jimmy to "be a man" and complaining about having messed up hair — could lead to so many jokes. It would be a perfect opportunity for Fallon to clap back in a hilarious way, but his response was actually way better than comedy. It was an honorable and mature response: a donation to RAICES in the president's name.
RAICES — The Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services — is the largest immigrant non-profit in Texas, aimed at providing free and low-cost legal assistance to immigrant children, families, and refugees at the border.
